Rewilding is happening now all over the world, both on land and at sea, bringing back key species and restoring entire ecosystems at all scales. We are now an alliance of over 200 organisations that are restoring nature around the world.

This week we warmly introduce The Corbett Foundation, who are dedicated to protecting, restoring and rewilding India’s most iconic wildlife and their habitats. They work towards a harmonious coexistence between human beings and wildlife across the country.

Safeguarding India’s Wild Heart

Partner organisation: The Corbett Foundation

Location: India

The Corbett Foundation (TCF) is a dedicated guardian of India’s most iconic wildlife and their habitats, with a special focus on Bengal Tiger landscapes across Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Assam. Embracing a holistic approach to conservation, TCF blends ecological research, climate action, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development into a powerful strategy aimed at protecting India’s natural heritage.

From the dense forests of tiger territory to the arid plains of Kutch, Gujarat, TCF’s efforts extend to over 800 villages across six states.

The Foundation is a beacon for species and habitat conservation, focusing on flagship species such as the Bengal Tiger, Asian Elephant, Sloth Bear, Great Indian Bustard, Lesser Florican, Indian Leopard, and critically endangered vultures. By addressing the challenges of human-wildlife negative interactions, restoring degraded habitats, and promoting sustainable livelihoods, TCF paves the way for a future where humans and wildlife coexist in harmony. TCF’s dedicated ground-level staff is always on the front lines, addressing urgent wildlife conservation challenges and engaging communities in meaningful change.

TCF’s impact stretches beyond species protection; it advocates for habitat preservation at the landscape level, raising awareness about the critical role these ecosystems play.

Through strategic partnerships with local, national, and international organizations, TCF is not just conserving wildlife—it’s reshaping the relationship between people and the natural world, working tirelessly towards a vision where nature thrives alongside humanity.
