Meet Karl

Karl is a scientist by training and an environmental campaigner. Formerly, Karl worked for many years both at WWF International on global and EU campaigns and for the Club of Rome. For the last 10 years he has contributed frequently to the global campaigns conducted at the WILD Foundation.

Meet Alister

Alister has been a lifelong environmentalist since the eradication by silage making of the Corncrake where he grew up in the north west of Ireland. The thread of Alister’s career has been to learn how to make big, positive change happen. With a doctorate from the Science Policy Research Unit, University of Sussex, Alister spent 15 years at the interface between science and policy. He has helped to build multiple movements and has supported many catalytic leaders as a trained coach and facilitator. A father of two and widower, Alister loves to get out in nature and the great outdoors. Alister is an Honorary Professor at University College London.

Meet Magnus

Magnus is an animal ecologist (PhD) by training who has been engaged in the conservation of nature since childhood. Magnus worked professionally for the Swedish Government (research), WWF (International & Sweden), Rewilding Europe and the WILD Foundation, and as independent consultant since 2007. Interested in the interface between conservation, climate and what drives change in society. Magnus has four daughters, four grandchildren, and from time to time a dog. He was born in Sweden and has lived in Switzerland since 1991.

Meet Alastair

Alastair is a well known and highly regarded UK ecologist and rewilding specialist with nearly 50 years experiences and is cited in “Who’s Who” for influence and distinction in the field of environmental conservation. He spent 34 years in public service, including becoming the first Conservation Officer for the Thames catchment in the early 1980s and going on to become national Head of Conservation for the Environment Agency in the UK for 15 years. From that position he moved to become the Director of Rewilding Britain for 8 years, playing a key high-level role in influencing national rewilding policy and practice and growing the organisation to the influential charity it now is. He has had many pro bono international advisory assignments over the last 30 years including acting as an Advisor for the Commonwealth Secretariat and the European Union, and an Ambassador for the International River Foundation. He is also an Honorary Professor in Environmental Management at Exeter University.
