You can shape the future of rewilding efforts globally

As a rewilding organisation, your expertise and passion are invaluable assets. Together, we can be a stronger collective force, learning more quickly, amplifying our voices, creating a stronger evidence base, advocating for supportive policies, and building partnerships.

You’re not alone anymore! Let’s rewild the Earth together.

You’re invited to join!

We are a global network of partners who are active and supporting rewilding all around the world, on land and at sea.

We offer a free active membership. Applications are open to join the Global Rewilding Alliance.

We align the criteria for joining the Alliance with the two broadly acknowledged documents, the Global Rewilding Charter and the IUCN Rewilding Guidelines.

  • Guideline #1: Rewilding is nature-led, functional ecological restoration.
  • Guideline #2: Rewilding aspires to large scale restoration through landscape scale planning and collaboration across space and time.
  • Guideline #3: Rewilding is informed by evidence and requires ongoing monitoring to inform adaptive management plans.
  • Guideline #4: Rewilding embraces dynamism and systems thinking.
  • Guideline #5: Rewilding is place-based and participatory.

If you are actively engaging in these guidelines, we encourage you to apply. We review applications every four to six weeks.

Benefits of being a part of the alliance

A global community acting for rewilding

Join a worldwide alliance of organisations and practitioners working across ecosystems, cultures, and disciplines. As a partner, you become part of a shared movement restoring healthy, functional ecosystems at scale — and you’re no longer working in isolation.

Learn, share & collaborate with peers

Connect with rewilding practitioners, scientists, communicators, and organisations from around the world. Share knowledge, exchange experiences, and collaborate through theme-focussed working groups and co-learning spaces such as the Global Rewilding Communicators Network.

Global visibility, amplified impact

Increase the reach and influence of your work through the Alliance’s global platforms, campaigns, and networks. Together, we amplify rewilding stories, strengthen collective voices, and increase visibility for rewilding worldwide.

Access resources, funding prospects & opportunities

Benefit from shared resources, strategic insights, funding opportunities, and partnerships that support the long-term growth and impact of your rewilding work.
For American Prairie, the existence of the Global Rewilding Alliance and the ability to collaborate with international projects has been very very helpful. Broadening the scope internationally, for our staff and our supporters means we see that this is not something we invented or are doing alone, it’s a global community. This is needed for motivation.

GRA Partnership FAQ

Frequently asked questions about membership of the Global Rewilding Alliance

1 What does the GRA offer for Alliance Partners:

Joining the Global Rewilding Alliance (GRA) gives partners global networking, learning, and collaboration opportunities, access to shared tools, resources, funding prospects, and amplified global influence for rewilding projects.

2. How do we take part in the advantages?

The GRA offers seasonal meetups open to all Alliance Partners. The Global Rewilding Communicators Network shares information and best practices with marketing and communications professionals as well as seasonal virtual meetings. The GRA co-hosts World Rewilding Day and offers opportunities to take part in that. We host several webinars per year with a variety or resources and experts, only open to Alliance Partners. We have working groups around certain biomes (Wetlands, Rangelands and Climate). You will receive emails with the above information and invitations. As always, feel free to make suggestions and take the lead on areas and ideas you are interested in.

3. How can we get connected with others working in similar biomes or with similar animals or challenges?

The seasonal meetups are a great place for this. And you are welcome to reach out to the team as well. In future, we will roll out a WhatsApp chat where all Alliance Partners will be able to connect directly.

4. What are some other benefits?

One of the things we hear most often is that it is really nice to be surrounded by so many people working on rewilding. They know the highs and lows, the challenges and opportunities. We have created a sharing and inclusive atmosphere for our partners to find help and comradery in the GRA community.

5. Can you help us spread the word of our work?

Yes, the GRA has several different opportunities for this. We do a blog post and an Instagram post for every Alliance Partner and you can share big campaigns with us for more coverage. Additionally, we have a growing list of media connections that we can share big stories with and whom occasionally ask us for recommendation of organizations to speak with around certain topics.
