Supporting rewilders around the world

Our global alliance is catalysing the rewilding movement and supporting organisations working to restore nature and help it heal itself.

By aligning our efforts globally, we amplify our collective impact, mainstreaming rewilding in science, policy and practice.

Thematic Working Groups

We are connecting partners around key rewilding themes such as Wetlands, Rangelands and Climate, as well as advocacy targets like the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) to influence global awareness, policies, and decisions. Find out more about how partners are working together to actively restore earth’s functionality.

Policy & Advocacy

Rewilding is a powerful 3-in-1 policy solution addressing the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, and human wellbeing. We unite partners to convene evidence and drive systemic change. Read more about a systemic solution for people & planet.

World Rewilding Day

On March 20th each year, World Rewilding Day brings the global rewilding movement together through events, launches, and actions, from local communities to policy arenas, reaching millions around the world. Read more about this annual celebration of nature recovery.

Knowledge Sharing

Through webinars, events, and peer-to-peer exchange, we connect rewilders and foster shared learning that strengthens the global rewilding movement. Discover more about the Global Rewilding Communicators Network.

The Global Rewilding Communicators Network

Effective and human-led communications is key to build and strengthen a movement. Our goal is to connect and support rewilding communicators worldwide, foster collaboration, and learn from each other, so together, we can amplify the rewilding message, inspire more people, and build momentum for systemic change. The Global Rewilding Communicators Network meets several times a year to exchange ideas, share communication tools, and strengthen how we tell the story of rewilding.

We connect rewilders & amplify the rewilding message.

The momentum is undeniable

We have identified 5 stages of the growth of the rewilding movement – and we are at an exciting & decisive point:
Stage 3 – Preparing for Scaling

Invention

1990s
Rewilding was conceived as a bold new idea, challenging conventional conservation by reimagining how nature could recover at meaningful scales.

Experimentation

2000s & 2010s
Rewilders around the world began testing these ideas in practice, learning through hands-on projects that letting nature lead could deliver powerful results.

Preparing for Global Scaling

Today
With proven successes, shared principles, and a growing global network, the movement is now poised for rapid expansion and coordinated impact.

Scaling

Next Decade
Rewilding scales through policy, finance, and institutions, enabling ambitious goals like 30×30 and large-scale land and ocean recovery to become reality.

Mainstreaming

Future
Rewilding becomes a widely accepted, central approach to human wellbeing and planetary resilience, shaping how societies coexist with nature.
