As UCL ISR’s first Honorary Professor of Practice, Alister delivers an inspiring talk addressing the interconnected crises of climate change, biodiversity loss, and climate anxiety. He passionately argues that rewilding acts as a “system catalyst,” offering practical solutions to many systemic problems at once by allowing nature to restore itself. Through compelling examples like the return of sea otters to California, tigers in India, and beavers in Britain, he showcases how bringing back wild animals can dramatically mitigate droughts, reduce flooding and wildfires, draw down carbon, and restore entire ecosystems.
This talk was followed by a panel discussion with Alister, Danielle Mulder (BBC Director for Sustainability), Prof Alastair Driver (Rewilding Specialist and Global Rewilding Alliance’s Senior Advisor), and chaired by Berlin-based journalist Anja Kueppers-McKinnon.
Tune in to learn more about the global rewilding movement’s exponential growth and the creative ways it’s engaging people, ultimately offering a renewed sense of purpose and hope!
